100s board fun

The Kakariki  maths group have been learning their way around the 100's board.  We are looking for patterns and columns that are the same.  One of our independent activities involved us drawing a pattern on a blank 100's board and then going back and filling in the numbers which we had coloured.  We were not allowed to count each square to do this.

Some of the different ways we solved this were;
Kharma - I know that the last column is skip counting in 10 and so then I counted backwards to get my coloured squares.
Izzy - I counted each square forward or backwards from the biggest number.
Corrin - I knew that the numbers in each column ended the same so I counted forwards or backwards in 1s to solve it.
Jayden - I skip counted in 2's and then found the end number and then counted the gaps backwards.
Lucas - I was skip counting in 10's and then I knew if I moved down a column it would be just adding 10.

We enjoyed this activity so much that we shared it with Room 14.
