The SPS student council organised a dress-up day to raise money for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. We got to dress up and we had to bring a gold coin donation. The homework was to create a helicopter using recycled materials. Corrin made a helicopter with straws. By Izzy, Kharma and Billie
Room 15 children came up with this idea for our entry into the school wide class competition. Look at all the movers and groovers!! We had so much fun creating this video clip.
Room 15 went to visit the Bug Hotel that Room 20 made. We loved looking in all the different "rooms' and areas of the hotel. Some of us saw spiders, slaters and bees. We remembered to look - not touch and to use a quiet voice. The children thought it was a great idea and definitely want to visit it again. Perhaps when you are next at school you could go and visit it too.
Our poem this week was called Popcorn. It talked about the kernel popping into fluff We decided at discovery time to make our own popcorn in the popcorn maker. Mrs Rova set a challenge - we had to create something to hold our popcorn in using only paper. We invented some interesting contraptions for the popcorn to go into. It tasted delicious. Some of the popcorn was popping out of the bowl and onto the floor. We were laughing.
Our school was donated some new stickers for our bins. The stickers are to remind us what goes into the black bin. The black bin is the rubbish that we can recycle. Marlene came in to put the sticker on and talk to us about what we can put in the bin. Room 15 have decided that we are going to spend some time each day checking that the correct rubbish is in the bin.
We went to watch Aidan from Room 6 fly his drone. A drone is like a flying robot. It has a remote control. Aidan told us that his drone cost $150 and it can fly really high. He said it can go up to 100 metres in the sky. We watched the drone with Room 14 and all the Year 5 and 6 children. It was fun.
