For our life cycle display the class decided that instead of making eggs we would use real ones. This promoted a lot of discussion around using an egg with all the yolk and white inside or perhaps taking this out. Together with Room 14 we brainstormed ways to remove the inside without cracking the shell. Then we tried out the possible solutions. By process of elimination we worked out that if we put a pin hole at the top of the egg and a pin hole at the bottom we could then blow the inside of the egg out. Marlene demonstrated this and then some of the children got to have a turn too. Room 14 and 15 were a very captivated audience. Perhaps you could get your child to show this new 'trick' at home with you.
When the empty eggs had dried out we painted them so that they were all ready for our life cycle display. Watch this page for the completed art works.
